It's about being civil

Even IF it is true that fat is unhealthy... (and it isn't)

Even IF lifestyle is the sole cause of being fat... (and it isn't)

Those are STILL not acceptable reasons for the things people say about and do to fat people.

Christopher Reeves' horse riding lifestyle choices resulted in him becoming a quadriplegic, yet it would have been socially unacceptable to scream insults at him about horses or paralysis. That's because it's asinine to do so. Well, it's also asinine to be nasty to fat people, regardless of their health or lifestyle.

AMEN!!!! This is what I want everyone in the world to start understanding!! I feel like printing it out and handing it out on the streets! It shall however go in my journal so I can remind myself that THIS is how things should be .. specially when I start to feel like I need to apologize for who I am !!

If not I could edit things but I really wanted to give you credit for inspiring me with your words! Thank you

Very timely post. Walking to the train station yesterday some moronic yahoos make pig noises at me yesterday as they drove by. I, of course, completely ignored them and there was nobody else around. It bothered me for a short while, then I was on the train reading and at work working and didn't think about it for the rest of the day. A few years ago, that would have ruined my day, so I guess I've made progress with the "You're the one with the problem" attitude.

Amen! Irregardless of people's thoughts on fat or fat people; I don't know why ANYONE still feels that they have the right to denigrade a fat human being. We're all still people y'all! :)

It's a lot like saying that because a woman dresses provocatively she deserves to be raped. Or that's just how I see it. She was asking for it by dressing that way and we're asking for derision and anger from the world by being fatties.

Which is the main reason why I have a problem with Drew Barrymore. Who was reportedly first amongst her PETA friends after Chris Reeves accident to declare that he deserved what he got for participating in polo related horse abuse. The upside, I guess, is that we can be pretty sure she has no concerns about the human 'Obesity Crisis'/Panic.

I have a pig on my key chain that oinks and flashes. I plan to use it the next time somebody bothers me in such a way.

Awesome post. Most people don't dare to make negative comments at me about my fat, cause it's most likely I'll try to deck them. Unsuccessfully, but still. LoL
