All things in moderation

...including comments here.

I have left up troll comments in my post called "The 'O' Word" to be an example of the disgusting, hateful words that are directed at people who dare to not hate themselves for being fat. I don't want such ugliness to mar my blog, but I think it's important for others to see it.

From this point forward, however, I am moderating comments and removing the spew. Sorry, trolls, but if you want to piss and moan about us, you'll have to make your own blog to do it. Nothing's stopping you.

I do want to say that, given the cruel, hateful nature of the things that were said, I don't believe that this shit has anything at all to do with concern for our health. So take your patronizing bullshit elsewhere; we're not falling for it.

Some people need to get a hobby. Seriously.

Your house, your rules. Love you, Rio.

Oh my. That is why I never feed the trolls. They are always hungry...if you neglect them they will die.

BTW, this bears repeating over, and over. Originally found on SP, here's a quote by Carolyn Hax:

Speaking of stages, I think there are stages of perception: 1. When all you know or notice is yourself; 2. When you think everything that you have felt applies to others as well; 3. When you realize that others can go through the same thing as you but not feel the same way as you did; 4. When you can put yourself in other’s positions and understand what they feel. Everyone knows Stage 1 is obnoxious, but people stuck in Stage 2 can almost be more so, because they think they know something about you.

A certain person who posted on this board with the first initial O, posted on my blog, and i put moderation in place.

she was very insulting to my wife, and I will not allow anything like that to happen and to hurt her.

and she was insulting to you and everyone else who posted here. You board your rules. and i appreciate it.

I have comment moderation in place on my blog too, just because of this kind of crap. It was funny at first, the pathetic lack of a life these trolls seem to have, and the lack of self esteem, but it gets to a point where you've heard it all, and repetition is boring. I don't miss posting the nastiness, and I can ignore it when it comes to moderation (read the first couple of words, it's nasty, delete), I don't have to let it affect me at all that way.

Some people mature with age: Others just get older...

What a sad little troll. I don't believe for one instance that person is who they say they are. Most likely some sad little individual who still lives in their parent's basement and has to lash out at others who are obviously happier and more successful then they are in order to make themselves feel better. Poor, poor pitiful little troll.

I've gotten a couple contacts from said troll, and can say with complete confidence that it isn't interested in anyone's health lol. Definitely nasty nasty vicious thing - and yes, it may be sad and there may be a tragic unhappiness behind it (probably is), but fuck it. You were nice enough to give it a chance and it blew that chance.

Moderated comments will do just fine :)

I..don't understand why some one would take time out of their day just to be mean to people they don't even know.

I mean... WTF?

Well, if any of what she said is distressing to anyone, just remember that SHE is the one who has to reaffirm her own self worth to strangers on the internet. She can't be happy for herself, she needs to lord it over others.

I love her, "You've all given up aspiring to be like me!" comment. Yeah, uhm. I TOTALLY want to be a self-absorbed c*** whose self worth can be summed up in measurements that, at the end of your life, mean absolutely nothing.
